The practice going forward will be, I write in English when I am on transit as it is impossible to type Chinese on BB. So obviously I AM indeed on transit - on my way to L.A. to attend my friend
A's wedding.
A is my dorm/roommate in college, from Foothill to Spruce to El Cerrito. She is always the smartest and THE 'model' student. Although I am almost a year older than
A is,
A turns out to be the more mature one. She has an agenda in mind very early on, and knows every step to take in advance. We did lots of things together during our days at Cal: Days of Our Lives (yes, she and
J got me addicted to DOOL and we even tried to schedule our classes around time of the show!), many late nights at Moffit, cooking...
A's mom
P is a great cook and
A inherits the right genes. It is such enjoyable experience to watch her cook because she pays attention to all details --
A is quite a perfectionist. She taught me how to cook Japanese, and took me to Saul's where I learnt all about Jewish cuisine.
A is also an accomplished clarinet player and she was with the Cal marching band (another reason to go to football games!). All very cool of her.
A finished her bachelor degree in three years' time so I did not get to see much of her in our senior year. Then she moved to Boston to do her DDS and post-doc at Harvard. She was working in Boston after Harvard and I was in either H.K. or L.A. Over the decade post graduation, we probably met only a handful of times. Since
A moved back to L.A. two or three years ago, we got to see each other more often when I visit my parents. It is funny that we are not the kind who would call or email often but I never feel "distant" away from her. I always feel connected to her in a special kind of way and I suppose that's what friend is all about!
I am so happy to see
A getting married. It'll be a beautiful wedding because there is so much love between
A and
S. Congratulations!!
